My writing style has been affected by English 101, by enlightening me to realize who I am writing to. I have found that it does matter who, and what I am writing. If I were to write a letter to a fellow student, I might be able to get away with a less formal style, but if I were writing an email to a teacher, I would prefer a much more formal approach. This formal approach would include everything from correct spelling to good sentence structure.

Many of the class was spent learning the rhetorical knowledge developed by Aristotle, a profound philosopher.
Logos: Logical
Pathos: Emotional
Ethos: Credibility
It has been proven, that an understanding of rhetorical syllogism does indeed create a more developed writer. I have personally seen a difference in my own writing. I take into consideration, and review my thoughts as I write, if I am following the rhetorical guidelines and not simply getting the thoughts out in no rhythmic order. Fully developed ideas, as well as proof from a credible source, allow the writer to express their thoughts intelligently. I will take all of this knowledge with me as I proceed to English 102 next semester.
